经济学奖授予乔尔·莫基尔（Joel Mokyr）、菲利普·阿吉翁（Philippe Aghion）和彼得·豪伊特（Peter Howitt），表彰他们解释了“创新驱动的经济增长”。　　诺贝尔奖官网介绍，1100万瑞典克朗奖金的其中一半将被授予乔尔·莫基尔，表彰他“通过技术进步确定了持续增长的前提条件”；另一半由菲利普·阿吉翁和彼得·豪伊特共同获得，表彰他们“通过创造性破坏实现持续增长的理论”。
